IPv6links.net

06Nov05

I finally made the permanent switch to IPv6 connectivity. Over the past few years, I played around with it several times, but recently when the cable modem provider took away my pack of extra dynamic IPv4 addresses I decided the time was right to make the leap. It is amazing how much faster developing peer-to-peer applications is when you can assume that each side has a publicly-addressable IP address as you can with IPv6.
After looking around for a good list of IPv6-enabled sites (ie. I’ve got IPv6…what can i do with it?), it became apparent that such a list does not exist. The best is The “Official” 6bone Webserver List”, a boring white page, hosted on a an old webserver at a university in Germany. Hardly very Web 2.0.

In the spirit of Web 2.0, I created http://ipv6links.net which is simply a modified version of Scuttle on open-source take on the social bookmarking concept. Each submitted bookmark is checked to verify that it is indeed hosted on a server that at least claims to have IPv6 connectivity (ie. has an AAAA DNS record). The site is dual-stack and reachable via both IPv4 and IPv6. Those connecting via IPv6 will see a blue “6″ in the star at the left top of the page. For those of you without IPv6 connectivity, you can see what you’re missing by loading the site through the SixXS IPv6 to IPv4 web gateway.

Sinopop.net is now expanding its scope to include random tidbits of (most computer-related) information that were hard to track down. Perhaps through the magic of search engines someone will find it useful.

蔡依琳(Jolin)四月十六月要来美国东海边演唱!很想去参观!我从来没机会看亚洲歌星在美国给演唱,肯定可好玩的。希望她需要陪唱,我会好好练习然后到时努力地给她陪唱!哈哈

While rollerskating in Southern China this past holiday season I heard this great song with a rather typical yet catchy R&B beat with an chorus sung by an AMAZING female solo vocalist. In trying to determine the name of this song, I along with the first couple people I asked regarding the origin of the song made the mistake of assuming that it was the female vocalist’s song and merely featured Will Pan (潘玮柏) . The song turned out to be Bu De Bu Ai ( 不得不爱) and Willy Pan took credit as the title artist.

Some of you are familiar with Wil l for his is incredibily-annoying-yet-can’t-get-it-out-of-your-head “My Microphone” where, yes, he sings about his microphone. Its like he was sitting in a studio one day and couldn’t think of an idea for a song and then laid eyes upon the mic and immediately decided the deep philosophical connection between he, the “artist,” and the microphone needed to be explored in lyrics…and to a catchy beat no less. Needless to say, few would expect a song as good as Bu De Bu Ai to come from his microphone. Props to the young lady that sings chorus and carries the song.

One of these days I will figure out who she is and locate her albums. For the meantime Will’s ability to get radio stations across China to play his song over and over especially in ringtone commericials has brought this unknown lady with the voice of silk to listeners…whether we like it or not!

蔡依林新出的那首《天空》 不错

I’ve recently been listening a lot to the People’s Radio Broadcasting Music Radio Channel (音乐之声) using my Kylintv TV box. As those from the PRC know, all broadcast radio in Mainland China plays a series of beeps on the hour and half hour after which the current time is announced. (beep…beep…beep…beep…beep 11:00) Recently, immediately after this an announcer comes on and says I am Angela Zhang Shaohan the time is __:__AM. Is this the famous singer Angela 张韶涵? I always thought she was Taiwanese.Angela Chang å¼ é¶æ¶µ
